Lo único que hacía bien en la escuela era escribir. Fui editor del periódico escolar. Las palabras siempre han sido mi alegría y mi placer. Son la única constante en esta vida.

No se puede tener una fórmula para algo tan complejo como una novela. Sólo escribo cosas que me emocionan. Sé exactamente quiénes son mis lectores: gente de todo el mundo con edades comprendidas entre los 15 y los 80 años. Creo que tengo un toque común.

Nunca tomo notas. Si algo vale la pena recordarlo, lo recordarás.

Tengo el poder de la vida y la muerte sobre mis personajes. Me complace deshacerme de los malos de la forma más brutal posible, mientras que mis héroes tienen la actitud correcta y consiguen hacer las cosas.

Espero que la muerte sea otra aventura. Puede que sea el final del camino o el comienzo de un nuevo camino brillante y luminoso en el que las novelas se escribirán solas. Hasta entonces, seguiré haciéndolas yo mismo.

You can’t have a formula for anything so complex as a novel. I just write things that excite me. I know exactly who my readers are: people all over the world between the ages of 15 and 80. I think I have a common touch.

I have the power of life and death over my characters. I take pleasure in getting rid of the bad guys in the most brutal way I can, while my heroes have the right attitude and get things done.

I hope death is another adventure. It might be the end of the road or the beginning of a new bright and shiny road where the novels will write themselves. Until then I’ll keep doing them myself.
